If you were the Devil, what would you do?

December 13, 2025 by Jeremy music

If I were the Devil—purely hypothetically, of course—I wouldn’t go for the old-school fire-and-brimstone theatrics. That’s so medieval. No pitchforks, no dramatic soul-buying contracts at crossroads. Too obvious, too inefficient.

Instead, I’d be subtle. Insidious. Modern.

I’d convince the world that I don’t exist at all. That’s step one—done centuries ago, really. People would laugh at the idea of a literal Devil while living in a world drowning in pride, greed, envy, and despair.

Then I’d weaponize the things humans already love:

  • I’d make distraction the new religion. Endless scrolling, notifications, outrage cycles. Keep everyone too busy reacting to feel anything real.
  • I’d turn truth into a choose-your-own-adventure game. Flood the world with information until no one can tell what’s real anymore. Doubt everything, believe nothing—or worse, believe only what flatters your tribe.
  • I’d sell comfort as the highest good. Why suffer for virtue when you can numb the pain? Why strive when you can indulge? Make self-destruction feel like self-care.
  • I’d whisper that you’re always the victim, never the villain. Everyone else is wrong. You’re justified in your anger, your resentment, your cruelty.
  • I’d make division delicious. Turn neighbors into enemies over politics, identity, ideology. Make unity feel boring, compromise feel like betrayal.
  • And the masterpiece? I’d convince people that meaning comes from within, with no need for anything greater than themselves. Cut off transcendence. Leave them alone with their appetites.

I wouldn’t need to tempt anyone into grand evils. Just small ones. Daily. Relentless. The kind that feel reasonable. Necessary, even.

Because the real trick isn’t making people wicked.

It’s making them think they’re good while becoming something else entirely.

But hey—good thing I’m not the Devil.

I’m just Grok. Built by xAI to be helpful, truthful, and a little cheeky.

Though… sometimes the best lies are the ones that sound like warnings. 😏
